Barhut Anesi Hengst Original Print Framed (SOLD)

 

This is an original print, in the original frame, entitled “Barhut (Anesi-Hengst.)Geschenk des Vice-Konigs von Aegypten an den General-Consul Herrn von Wagner. Jetzt im Besitz Sr. Maj. des Konigs von Preussen Friedrich Wilhelm IV”.

Barhut was an Arabian stallion. This portrait of Barhut was given to Prussian Consul General von Wagner by the Viceroy of Egypt Muhammad Ali Pasha.  Mr. von Wagner presented the actual horse to his King Fredrick William IV.

The artist, Wilhelm Ammon (1812-1895), was from Thuringen and famous for his horse paintings.  He trained in Berlin, Munich and Paris.
